Previously, I never liked Dirac much for stereo listening, but to me, it seems to have improved over the last few updates. Since the latest Dirac updates, I've been using Dirac for both stereo and surround listening. Just seems to suit my system and layout best. I've tried numerous Dirac curves over the years, but always come back to the default. Easy to set up and I've not encountered any issues setting up Dirac using either a UMIK-1 or a XTZ microphone. This is what made me buy it in the first place. I can and do listen to it for hours sometimes (the joys of being retired ). Dynamic and cohesive sound with no room correction, especially on music with no hints of listening fatigue. The following is just a summary of my opinions on each in my system in my room, with and without Room Correction:Īrcam 850 - Very solid construction, feels and looks like a quality product. Lyngdorf 3400 (in conjunction with the Arcam, Marantz & Denon, also tested with M&K 950 fronts)Īnthem 1120 (tested with ARC & ARC Genesis) Lyngdorf 2170 (in conjunction with the Arcam, Marantz & Denon) I've had extensive home trials of the following recently and also participated in a Room correction system shoot out at Gecko: I currently own an Arcam AVR850 and have done for nearly 3 years. I've also tried a PSA S1510 in my current system. Prior to that, I've had several Naim, Linn, Dynaudio, M&K combinations with REL & Velodyne subs at various times. For all surround use, the X10 sub is used with a crossover of 80 Hz.įor what it's worth, my previous system was a Meridian 568v2/558 processor/amp set up, which I had owned for nearly 10 years.

For stereo music, I typically don't use my sub, running my D7s full range. For me, sound quality is as important, if not more important than picture quality. I watch/listen to 50% Music and 50% Movies and own a substantial amount of Concert Blu rays as well as SACDs and DVD-As. My system is 5.1 comprised of Spendor D7 & CR3 (Centre) fronts, M&K CS29 rears and a M&K X10 Sub. I think you know quite a bit about my experiences over the last 4-5 months, but here goes.
